Thank you for choosing Sol Driving School to begin your license process. As a 15-18 year old teen, you are now involved in one of the most important classes during your teenage years. In Washington state, Car Crashes are the #1 killer for teens your age (16-25). Together, you, your parents and Sol Driving School will develop a partnership to keep you safe and alive. Sol Driving School’s philosophy is to produce Collision Free Drivers for Life. To Achieve this goal, your are REQUIRED a minimum of 10 hours of driving practice at home with your parents during the 5 weeks of class (Person practicing must have License and 5 years experience) and 40 additional hours once you have completed your course. Teens and Parents your permit is not a license.

WHAT YOU WILL RECEIVE:

  • 30 Hours of Class Instruction Tues., Wed. & Thurs 2 hours per day 3:00 PM – 5:20 PM OR 5:00 PM – 7:20 PM
  • 5 Hours Behind The Wheel (Scheduled by your child)
  • 5 Hour of Observation (Back Seat Passenger)
  • 4 Hours of Driver Simulator on computer (Driver – Zed 20 minutes before or after first class)
  • 1 Knowledge Test
  • 1 Skills Test (you provide your own vehicle)

COST:

  • $550.00 ($300.00 will Reserve you a Spot) Balance due on the last day of class
  • Discount for Cash Payment of $500.00 at the Time of Registration Credit/Debit Card is NOT same as Cash
  • $50.00 for additional Drives

REGISTRATION PROCESS:

  1. Come to Sol Driving School to Register with your WA Identification Card/Number and School ID
  2. Sol will place a Waiver in the DOL system so you are able to obtain your Permit & Pick up a Book $25.00 Fee is paid directly to DOL (No Earlier than 10 days Prior to start of Class)
  3. NOTE: If you do not have an Washington Identification Card/Number, you will need to go to DOL to obtain a number (Take a Guardian/Birth Certificate and School Identification/Social Security Card to 3311 West Clearwater Avenue Suite B-140, Kennewick) Obtain Permit and Book and bring with you on the 1st day of class. If you are just getting number and do not have your waiver yet, once obtained, please call Sol Driving School at 545-3108 to get waiver added to avoid an additional trip.

    TRANSPORTATION: During the regular school session (Summer not Included), Sol will provide students needing transportation with a transit pass for Session 3:00-5:00 only. Parents/Guardians are responsible for picking up students after class.

    Requirements

    1. Student must be at least 15 yrs. of age on the first day of class.
    2. Student must obtain a driving instruction permit from DOL no sooner then 10 days before the first day of class. $25.00 Not included in registration fee.
    3. Student may not enroll after the 3rd day of class. Student CAN NOT miss more than 3 (three) scheduled classes or they will NOT COMPLETE/PASS their driving course and will have to pay a $275.00 registration fee. Classes missed must be made up within a week
    4. If you pay with cash at time of registration the total is $500.00, or if you wish to do a payment plan your total payments will equal $500.00 with $250.00 required for registration. The balance is due one week prior to their last class. A $10 a week additional late fee will be charged for unpaid balance beginning on the last day of class. Due to Covid-19 and sanitary reasons we are requiring use of our vehicles for the final drive ($35.00 fee). If balances are not paid the student WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO TAKE THEIR DRIVE 5, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS EXAM.
    5. NO REFUNDS.
    6. Student must successfully complete five behind the wheel drives and 1 observation drive. Students must show up to their drives/observations 10 minutes prior. If a drive is missed $50.00 will be charged to reschedule.
    7. Student cannot be more than 10 minutes late or they will be considered absent and the class will have to be redone. If a student is late 3 times they will NOT COMPLETE/PASS THEIR DRIVING COURSE. Students must complete all learning activities as assigned by the instructor in classroom. Student must reach 80% competency on all testing or they must come back on an arranged time with the instructor to retake the exam.
    8. The program must run at least 6 weeks, making up missed classes within the next class section. Classes will run no less than 30 days and not more than 2 months.
    9. Parents are Required to attend a 1 hour Presentation on the First Day of Class.
    10. The State of Washington Instruction Permit: RCW 46.20.055 and RCW 46.20.025 You cannot apply for your driver’s license until you are 16 years of age and have held your permit for at least 6 months.

If you do not accomplish everything mentioned, you will be put down as not completing the course (incomplete) and will have to retake it and pay the $275 Reenrollment Fee.

The State of Washington Instruction Permit: RCW 46.20.055 and RCW 46.20.025 If you’re under 18, you may apply for your driver license after you've had your permit for 6 months & must be 16 years of age. If you have a permit from another state, the time you had it in that state counts toward the requirement.
    6. If program is not completed 30 days after the last day of class it will be inputed as incomplete and student will have to retake the course and pay the reenrollment fee.
